The RAIN foundation works on making safe and sufficient water available to everyone. Despite that rainfall is seasonal in many countries, the amount of rain that falls is still impressive and makes rain a potential water resource for many applications. If only this rain could be harvested. To improve the awareness of rain as a water resource, the RAIN foundation commissioned the creation of maps of its potential. The assessment on Burkina Faso was meant as a pilot for further assessments which were to be made for the rest of the world. These RWH potential maps are primarily based on freely available datasets.
I collected the data, developed a methodology and performed the assessment.
